I’m still mulling over this book, so if I’m still thinking about it, it has made an impact on me. Isn’t that what we’d like every book we read to do?

Interesting religious argument and a very thought provoking ending. Easy to follow once I was invested in the story. I felt there was something I was missing until the end when it all became clear. I continue to wonder ‘what if’?

I think I could spend hours, days, years, a lifetime arguing both sides, nay various sides — aspects, if you will — of the below question:
‘Do you not think that a lack of belief is just as important as having one?’

If the devil really were afoot, would we recognize him/her/it? How? Better question, why? Do we really want to know the answer? And if we do, should we know? Or is this another “it’s the journey not the destination” type of tale?

Fave lines:
‘Death has a way of clarifying things.’
‘My thought on the matter is that I’d strongly prefer to not hear yours.’

Gripped by the first page and didn’t put it down until I finished. Then I went back and reread the last 2 chapters twice!
Mysterious, captivating, interesting, makes you think, stays with you. One of the best short stories I have read.

Easily found myself fascinated with the concept of this and how it made me question what I thought I knew about the Devil. Granted this is perspective is subjective, it really made me rethink things differently and I find myself questioning everything I do now. Not negatively, mind you, but more thinking outside of the box and about all the different angles of how things happen and what it looks like from those angles. Is the truth that I see the same as another’s view? I’m not naive to think that’s true, but I’m eager to discover more depth to that and how another’s perspective can vastly change my outlook.
